Marta! Big and Small

Marta! Big and Small is one of my favorite sprinkle Spanish books! The illustrations are cute and go so well with the words. Angela Dominguez does a wonderful job bringing the animals and Marta to life. One of the biggest issues with sprinkle Spanish books can be that the code-switching can sometimes make it difficult to read easily, but this book doesn’t have that issue as the English to Spanish flows really well.  The story follows Marta as she comes face to face with different types of animals and uses Spanish vocabulary to describe different attributes of Marta.

This is a great addition for any bilingual storytime and could also be used for an English storytime as a way to introduce some Spanish vocabulary. There isn’t a pronunciation guide though so I recommend looking over the vocab before hand if you are not fluent.
